Your road map to a professional career as a Registered Interior Designer
Register in a recognized Interior Design program, completing a bachelor’s degree in Interior Design (from a CIDA accredited program) or complete the Alternative Review Program (ARP) following approximately five years of interior design work experience.
Upon graduation with an accredited degree in Interior Design, apply for Intern member status in IDIBC Within 5 years of becoming an Intern Member of IDIBC, members are required to apply for and obtain confirmation of eligibility to write the NCIDQ, and commence writing of the NCIDQ exams. Upon successful completion of required experience, educational and examination requirements, Intern Members may then apply for Registered Member status with IDIBC. |

Professional interior designers who possess the NCIDQ Certification have distinguished themselves by demonstrating a specific set of core competencies, supported by verified work experience and a college degree. They have proven their expertise in understanding and applying current codes established to protect public health, safety and welfare. They are passionate about their profession and dedicated to its recognition and integrity.
NCIDQ Certification is required for the practice of many types of interior design in regulated jurisdictions throughout North America. Certification enables designers to easily demonstrate their knowledge, experience and skill to employers and clients alike. Designers certified through the NCIDQ Examination gain industry wide visibility and recognition. The strenuous requirements of the NCIDQ Examination give clients and employers added confidence in the caliber of work from NCIDQ Certified designers.
