INDUSTRY PANEL DISCUSSION SPEAKERS
#1: Breakfast Industry Panel Discussion & Workshop
Climate Change: What's Design got to do with it?
IDCEC Accreditation #: SE-11163-100
approved for 1.5hrs HSW credits
According to Metropolis, the interior design industry will have influence over almost one-tenth of the world’s carbon emissions by 2050. This is a significant responsibility as carbon emissions are the main cause of global greenhouse gas leading to global warming and climate change. Our panel of design and industry professionals will discuss “hot spots”, solutions, and strategies to reduce the carbon impact in projects. Then join in a collaborative process, weaving students, design, and industry professionals together to discuss and prioritize approaches you can apply to your future design projects.

IDCEC Accreditation # - Group Blue: 107639R2-1003 IDCEC Accreditation # - Group Green: 107639R2-1004 approved for 1 Health, Safety, Welfare Credit AIA: approved for 1 HSW-LU Historically, there have been various ways to measure how an interior space “works.” The metric may be sq. ft./person or cost/sq. ft. Such determinants have a rightful place among the principles of design, but it is possible to reconcile economic necessities with design that’s intelligent, interesting and human-centered. This session outlines how the essential components of design intersect with the principle components of the WELL Building Standard to create spaces that promote psychological well-being…resulting in more engaged, inspired, and empowered workers that exhibit a higher level of creativity and innovation. |
